Exhibition Intermission

Like Caitlyn mentioned in her last entry, a lot of our individual focus has been on the class exhibition recently so updates on our degree project have been minor. Since submitting our interviews the details of the project have been running through my mind and I've been thinking about solutions, but I don't have much to show for it in a blog post.

I didn't want to go too long without making a blog post, so figured I'd upload this little update to show I haven't completely neglected the process.

Video I watched over the break...

When I reached out to interviewee and NSCAD professor Tabitha Osler she provided me with this TED Talk she did at NSCAD.

"Fashion is one of the biggest resource consumers in the world. It also is one of the largest waste makers. With ‘fast fashion’ becoming more popular with the global community, what is already out there that could change the tide of fashion waste? What does the future hold for sustainable fashion? NSCAD University’s Tabitha Osler shows up a glimpse of sustainability and beauty. "

Tabitha brings up some interesting stats useful for our research and touches on pros and cons of various textile recycling processes. Informing our audiences about these pros and cons so they can make their own informed decisions about purchasing items with different textile production processes could be important.

Next steps...

The next steps Caitlyn and I should take is talk to Hu, then sit down and decide on the content we need to teach Nova Scotians and HOW we will do this with the time we have.
