Final Stretch!

Our exhibition starts in three days, so this will be my last official blog post! I can't believe four months have gone by this quickly. I think I will do a follow-up - bonus blog as a reflection on the final exhibition.

The exhibition setup

From Wednesday to Friday after class, Katherine and I spent over 4 hours each day working on the final touches of the project. We had our guide and content finished, but we needed to get the book printed, and that became an issue because Jeff was unfortunately on bereavement. We spent over 7 hours in total waiting in queue to print with Lia, just for there to be issues with booklet printing. We then went to The Print House and got the book printed and cut for double the price because we were too worried we wouldn't have it in time to wait for Jeff. In the end this worked out because we now have all of Monday to set up for the exhibition instead of finishing our guide.

Today (April 14th), I spent 3 hours cutting out and mounting page spread examples to prep for Monday, and in that time Katherine bound two copies of our guides.

*I did not get any photos of this because its been so crazy this past week.*

Our final presentation

We presented first to our class this Friday (April 14th), which was unplanned! I read the first half and Katherine read the second half of the presentation. Unfortunately, we went over time, but I think there is so much to say and cover in under 10 minutes, almost everyone went over their 8 minutes! I attached a PDF of the presentation here incase you are interested in reading it. It is just a concise document of what led us to Mending Matters.

If I were to do this presentation over, I would have actually said more, we wore our mended clothes and kept out a lot of detail that we would have liked to show the class before exhibiting it.

Final Thoughts

This project has been so fun to work on with Katherine for these past four months. I think that once we exhibit, there is an opportunity to expand this project further. I hope everyone enjoys this guide as much as I did.
